I get asked too often that what the difference between Lithium batteries and Lithium-ion is. The quick answer is that you can charge Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries many times. However, you cannot charge a Lithium battery.
I am sharing with you this video that shows how Li-ion batteries get charged up:
1. Chemical reactions cause lithium to release electrons to power the device. At the same time, lithium ions are created
2. The released electrons run from the anode to the cathode and discharging occurs hence powering the device
3. When charging a Li-ion battery, the electrons are taken back to the anode and charging occurs
