Chemistry Nobel Prize Gives Hope For Fossil-Fuel-Free Society

Ahmad Esmaeilirad

2019-10-19

Last week, the $900,000 Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to the development of lithium batteries, awarding Akira Yoshino at the age of 71, M. Stanley Whittingham at the age of 77 and John B. Goodenough at the age 97 (the oldest recipient of a Nobel Prize in history, wow!)

Lithium-ion batteries are being used in mobile phones, remote controls and electric vehicles and I personally acknowledge these three scientists' endeavor.

Will we embrace a fossil fuel free society very soon?
